Newsletter Layout

Newsletter Page Layout

Newsletters are a quarterly communication tool and main point of donor contact used by Cru, a faith-based nonprofit. The newsletters connect supporters with the ministries Cru has in North Africa and the Middle East. Each newsletter focuses on one aspect of the ministry and informs partners how they can contribute to the work. Donor relations are critical to healthy fund development and maintaining the organization’s multi-million dollar budget.

Due to the quarterly nature of this project, I had several opportunities to display layout abilities and branding consistency. I also had the opportunity to re-brand the newsletter as our Lead Fund Developer requested a new format for the publication. The following newsletters display the evolution of formats and the various pieces included in each mailer.

The Process

The theme is picked first to set the vision for the newsletter. The writers then develop articles and conduct interviews, then send the designers the copy. Three other designers and I laid out the content, chose images to represent the articles, and created infographics. After sending the final document to the printer, the newsletter is then adapted to an email format by the designers. My favorite part of the process is watching all the pieces come together to portray the ministry in a beautiful and inspiring document.
